8/27/24

Theatregoers at the Chamberpot Players production of "Arsenic and Old Lace" could only look on in astonishment as Evadine Hadley went off book and decided she couldn't kill this one, preferring to keep him around as a dance partner!

Arnetta waited and waited for her blind date to show up at Rango's Red Barn, but Howard looked on from a distance, unsure if he could handle everything she had to offer...

What with the 97 degree heatwave, Arlen decided that fur-covered Bingo needed a turn in the pool lounger more than he did and happily gave up his favorite spot for the afternoon.

While dinner with the family had been a hoot, Evelyn was in no mood to face all the dishes until Renee offered up some liquid courage, which managed to lighten the mood and get her started on them.

As co-founder of The Russellville Players, Rosco Tucker wore many hats and felt it completely within his rights to change the script of their next extravaganza from "Auntie Mame" to "Uncle Dane," with him in the starring role.

Ten years after disbanding, Vic and the Vermins finally were able to get together for a reunion, with all prior interpersonal issues now abandoned.

Jarrod really wasn't sure how it would actually go when he switched from a dog grooming salon to a personal bathing service, but to his delight business actually doubled within two weeks!
Barney was not at all fond of his own surroundings when it came time to find a place to "go," so he used a service called LegLyft, which picked him up and took him to a lovely clean fire hydrant several blocks away!
And so Myrna and Al found out the hard way that it wasn't advisable to drop in a half hour early on their daughter-in-law Gloria on nights when she had invited them to dinner...!

Winona and Genevieve loved Friday nights at home watching television with their parents as a general rule, but they surely never forgot the time Mother emptied out the Husman potato chip can in order to use it for storing something else...!
It wasn't until she went to sit down at the reception dinner that Marianne regretted posing for so many pics near the event hall's misty fountain...
One of Pepper's favorite activities was heading down to the corner liquor store with her owner Gladys and helping to settle on which whisky would do for the night.

Rufus noticed that that mailmen in Shady Grove had become a lot more fleet of foot lately than they once were, so he took matters into his own hands and kept a race car nearby with the keys in it; always ready for that 3:15pm chase!
Allison left no stone unturned in her pursuit of the Miss Arkansas crown, even going so far as to have her gloves dyed to match her hair...
As Jansen and Heather climbed further and further up Mt. Gluteous, Heather counted on being closer to the sun, but had no clue that she'd wind up this close to a moon!

Charlotte wanted to enjoy one last bike ride and a picnic with Steve and Raffles before the new local ordinance requiring helmets went into place. From that day on, she merely roller-skated if she wads craving outdoor exercise.
And so Cliff continued to play the big man on campus while not realizing that the wave behind him was not going to tolerate his head being above water for more than a couple of seconds longer...
While Flossie and Red were delighted to have made it to the 50-year mark in their marriage, being reunited with their bridal party - Maid of Honor Helen and Best Man Stu - did stir up some bitter memories of when Flossie was found behind the gift table embracing with Stu during their reception!

There were several bad habits that Charlotte and Steve wanted to break Raffles of as the New Year began. One was his propensity for going potty in the living room. The other was mating with Charlotte's hair when it was resting on her wig-stand overnight.
Dani had always wanted to open her own business so The Modd Bodd was a no-brainer. It's just that her resident manager took objection to her opening it in her one-bedroom garden apartment...!
Jack had no intention of dating Thing from The Addams Family for more than one night, but in time he came around to the benefits of a long-term relationship and the two were a hot couple for about three years!

There were several things that Tammie was hoping to receive on her birthday, but happily she got the one that was top on her list; a full afternoon of pampering at Elizabeth Arden.
And so the Strawberry Grove Dance Studio - Group E was informed as to which of them was going to be selected as Clara in "The Nutcracker Suite," a decision that didn't sit well with Melody Ann...
After a lot of hinting and a few false starts, Veronica finally received the proposal she'd been waiting for from Big Red...

All the effort of putting up her Christmas tree had caused a dent in Sandy's coiffure, but thankfully she recalled collecting a hat from Democratic headquarters earlier in the month and she was able to obscure the problem with that for a quick snapshot...
When they first headed to the vet, Farfel didn't feel like he had any reason to be going, but once Viola drove him there, swerving all over the road and covering two lanes, he suddenly felt the need for a doctor and perhaps even a tranquilizer!
The New Rochelle Ladies Auxiliary Bruncheon featured a new contest this year and the competition was fierce for "Craziest Chapeau."

Gladys Rubenwald was none too pleased to have to pay the winner the $31.50, which was half the pot, when she'd spent so much on real silk flowers for her own topper...

Captain Merle Hobough knew that budget cuts to the company uniforms would go down far easier if he were the first to acquiesce and adopt the latest version himself first...
Yes, JoJo had fun chasing down that skunk in the backyard, but oh was he paying for it now... When the tomato juice failed to get rid of the scent, Steven and his mother Phyllis felt it necessary to run him through the washing machine (on gentle) with some Ivory Snow detergent!

Faith, Hope and Charity Stillwell were the apples of their father's eye, even after Hope allowed the local college quarterback to impregnate her before they were even engaged...!
Bryan had brought along his own version of a trusty pooper-scooper for their morning walk, but was more than irritated that Chester had chosen to do his business so near to a large mud puddle...
Captain Hook usually took on all comers who wanted to be pirates on his ship, but even he had his standards and so Barry was denied indoctrination on the grounds of unsatisfactory pillaging garb...

Mort and Darleen were thrilled to take Tommy to Aunt Donetta's house over the holidays until Darleen had a really nasty run-in with a length of Christmas-themed fly strip which ultimately had to be cut out!
Seaman William Nisdey became something of a hero the day he managed to steer his ship out of certain harm's way and that was when he instantly became nicknamed "Steamboat Willie!"
Farfel was full of tricks that Saturday, hoping to win a treat from Great Uncle Raymond, Millard and Jeanette, but it was all for naught because Millard had already wolfed down nearly all of the snacks including what was left in the box of Milk Bone dog biscuits!

Upon his first return home on leave, Private Slocombe had to admit to himself that the professionally-airbrushed, wallet-sized photo of Denise that he carried with him was quite a bit more captivating than the real thing...
Tiddles loved it when Richard and Vonda spent time in their pool and on the bridge and patio because it temporarily removed any blame for little puddles and wet marks in the area...
Georgia's transformation of service station manager Clem into her ideal date was nearly complete. She'd taken him to every good store in town for shirts, suits, shoes and even a good haircut. Only one key element remained...

Leoda was a stickler for things symmetrical and in their proper place. She liked her pictures even, her lamps facing east and her men, like Chester, horizontal...
Mrs. Breyer warned Alura over and over again not to pose in her tulle ballet costume so close to the rose bushes and, in fact, thanks to all the snags it suffered, she was relegated to the third row on the night of the big recital.
Chipper didn't trust Mrs. Greene to fetch the correct Ken-L Ration dog food from the local Piggly-Wiggly during her weekly trip so he hopped up on ol' Bullet with her and rode along so he could supervise the shopping!

5/28/19

Stevie turned out to be quite the hero at the Groesberger house. When he saw that Todd was about to open the utensil drawer when held serving forks, carving knives and other deadly implements, he pressed his young charge up against the cabinets until Todd's mother could come and spirit him away.
Valerie took one swimming lesson from the hotel's instructor Tonio and liked it so much she asked for and was granted another private lesson that evening after the pool was officially closed and there would be fewer distractions.
Brenda Kate was instantly irritated when she posed for a photo at Disneyland with Myron and the young man who was manning the camera looked at his own dad and said, "Hey, look, Pa... there are three Matterhorns in this picture!"

Heinrich, Erich and Johann were hell bent on proving their strength by tearing off various pieces of their military housing... until one of them picked the wrong chunk and the whole thing came tumbling down like a house of cards!
Anjanette was so driven to appear as the next centerfold in Dog Fancy magazine that she coerced her owner Margaret into taking her to the golf course for a series of provocative candids that could then be submitted to the editor...
Among the various things that both Cheryl and her boyfriend, Corporal Jesse Brown, had in common was their their love of and deep need for helmets.
