8/29/19

Marjean was just sneaking back from borrowing a few scoops of coffee from Mrs. Olson next door, but was "caught" by a surprise visit from her old school chum Ann Milnar, in town for an advertising convention.
And so Bonita got her wish and was able to portray Cinderella in the Jacob Wilhelm High School ballet. Trouble was, the stagehands kept accidentally bringing out Jack's beanstalk from the prior production!
Ruta was elated to be selected as one of twelve guards from the West Florida Women's Correctional Facility to pose for the annual calendar, for which all proceeds went to rehabilitation supplies like chlorine (and peroxide.)

As this Bedrock High School prom night picture demonstrates, Fred Flintstone briefly dated Betty McBricker (Rubble) before meeting and marrying Wilma Slaghoople...!
And so Grizelda's career as a birthday party entertainer came to a close as it became clear that not only did children not find her magic acts funny or interesting, but also that they didn't want to brush their teeth after having cake with her electric toothbrush!
Applewood wasn't known for having many available bachelors so even such scraps as Harlee found themselves becoming the center of attention at such events as the semi-annual Petit Four Scramble Dance.

Afhedra loved dancing down at The Crimson Dragon because the smoke-filled dance floor helped obscure some of the stretch marks that little Paulo left!
It wasn't just that Wanda's Warriors consisted of some of Coshocton's best female bowlers. They also owned five of the best and most expertly-polished balls in the state!
Farnham didn't only pass down the fine art of fishing to his son Ed and grandson Billy. He also took pains to build their confidence in hat selection...

Sheridan was only too happy to support his ex, Gevalia, at her very first art exhibit. After all, she'd first begun painting by doing portraits of his dog Arnie and evolved from there into a top oil painter.
Arnold and Danny were as different as fraternal twins could be, though they did both like the water (and abbreviated trunks.)
Helen Faye was initially excited that her daughter-in-law Mindy arranged a birthday party at The Round-Up for her, but as the strip show wore on, she began to wish that they'd all just headed to O'Charley's...

Veronica brought two cabana boys, Eduardo and Ernesto, back with her after her trip to Venezuela, but forgot to tell them that the beaches of Martha's Vineyard were NOT clothing optional!

Petey's next door neighbor, Miss Diddytott, was forever complaining about the number of cats he owned, so finally he snapped and decided to open the window facing her bedroom and drive piles of used kitty litter onto her window!
With Great Uncle Ogden paying a three-week visit, Bob and Joanne wanted to keep him occupied, so they had a 5,000-piece jigsaw puzzle made in the exact pattern of their family room love seat...
It had been sort of sexy for Ralph to have eloped with one of his teachers back in the day, but now as she grew old enough to enter Sturdy Pillars Assisted Living while he was still on his game, a sort of awkwardness settled into their relationship.

Little did Hymie know that when he opted to spend his shore leave at the summer home of a certain advertising commercial artist that he would wind up serving as the inspiration for Mr. Salty, the pretzel mascot.

Being reunited with her birth parents Woody and Vi after such a long time was a real thrill for Raggedy Ann, but in those days before DNA, the only way for her to really know was to take off their shirts and look for the hearts printed on their chests.
Receiving his first big boy haircut wasn't the terrifying experience Jimmy worried it might be, but since his mother took him to LuAnne's Beautique, he did think that he wound up with it styled a bit more femininely that he otherwise might have had done...
Raejean just couldn't have a single moment of glory if her mother was on hand. Carolyn had to have a more lovely violet gown, a bigger hat and even a more pronounced grimace!

Brent was desperate to win the major lifeguard competition at Long Beach, but his excitement over the big day gave him an unexpected rudder that kept steering him off course and to the left!

When her father called her and told her to get down to his department store as soon as possible, June had no idea what he had in mind that day for "June Clearance!"
Rosamund saw no need for a quick trip to the corner store to be a thing of blah, so she decked herself out and sang carols all the way there and back...
It was quite a reunion indeed when Carolmarie went back to Panama eight and a half months after her trip there to look up Carlos the cabana boy. Both of them had put a little weight on in the meantime, but she'd soon be dropping hers!

Denise was excited that Paul chose her to be his date to the premiere of his new movie... until she got there and realized that the theater was on a seedy street and the movie was called, "The Magnificent 8-1/2!"

Russell tried to hide the bad word that he'd written in the velvet of Grandma Tully's sitting room furniture, but he needn't have fretted as it was misspelled anyway!

8/1/19

Mort and Darleen were thrilled to take Tommy to Aunt Donetta's house over the holidays until Darleen had a really nasty run-in with a length of Christmas-themed fly strip which ultimately had to be cut out!
Seaman William Nisdey became something of a hero the day he managed to steer his ship out of certain harm's way and that was when he instantly became nicknamed "Steamboat Willie!"
Farfel was full of tricks that Saturday, hoping to win a treat from Great Uncle Raymond, Millard and Jeanette, but it was all for naught because Millard had already wolfed down nearly all of the snacks including what was left in the box of Milk Bone dog biscuits!
