While sorting all the shawls she'd crocheted for Christmas gifts that year, Charmain swore that there'd been a sky blue one, too, but couldn't locate it until vacuumed next to where the tree had been on January 2nd.

Hedy had been encouraged to take the healing waters down at Lake Sparrowhead, but her innate shyness prevented her from engaging with any of the other visitors, including Helmut, who had demonstrated interest...!

Grandma Eleanor had long since put away her tap shoes, but was delighted when little Greg expressed interest in learning a few of her old combinations.

Even at this early age, future Derby champions, the Coughlins, were fascinated by life in the saddle and after scooting their way to victory (first one to the garage wins!), they'd follow up with a relaxing dip in the pool!

Gladys had an hour and a half before the annual peach cobbler competition down at the Knights of Paducah banquet hall, so she decided to take some sun before undoing her curlers.

Terry was satisfied with this first effort at cake-baking and had insisted on having all the candles for mom Susan's birthday. Susan did manage to retain 3/4s of her eyebrows after attempting to blow them out, too.

Everyone he knew warned Garry about staying away from the shitty neighborhoods he might come upon during his vacation, but he nonetheless kept taking his chances...

And it was just then, as the land surveyors set up across from his corral, that Eldon wished he'd gone ahead and installed a door on his outhouse.

No one in his right mind ever missed out on Joey's Whisky & Wiener Wednesday get-togethers and August 14th was no exception.

And so Lisa Jan went home and began plotting her revenge against Mrs. Spangler for daring to give her a D+ for her essay on Massachusetts history.

Terrified of getting grass stains on her new white slip-ons, Marlene called up on Steve to transport her from the side door to the car just before the Elder-Beerman Afternoon Tea and Fashion Show.

Razi wasn't told until the morning of the picnic that there'd be swimming, so he had to swiftly borrow his wife's mini-skirt or face skinny-dipping with his coworkers.

Happy Thanksgiving 2022!

Clayton did receive some side-eye following his prayer after announcing that he hoped God would make this year's turkey moister and less tough than last year's...

And so this was the last time that Jessica opted to have her boyfriend Randall (a professional marionette puppeteer) dress the holiday turkey...

Mamaw Markham would love to have been able to sit with the family for Thanksgiving dinner, but thanks to the big ball game, everyone else decided that the 14" TV would be more welcome.

Now Elmo just had to wait for his usual "Friday Night" poker buddies to come over and dig in to the holiday dinner he'd put together...

Unorthodox as it may have seemed, the rest of the family enjoyed the cross-hatch method of turkey carving, which made it easier to use leftovers in soups, casseroles and anything else that called for shredded meat!

Exhausted from all the holiday preparation, Edna Sue and Virgil simply collapsed. Unfortunately, the pecan pie was still in the oven and they didn't awaken to check on it until the smoke caught their attention!

Easter Shenanigans! 4/15/22

Have a wonderful holiday weekend!

The Boylins watched with a combination of trepidation and anticipation as Aunt Anne proceeded to decapitate the chocolate bunny nestled in their annual Easter cake...

This was the last year that their parents allowed Vern and Joyce to pick their own bunnies from the table since the scuffle to get the ones they wanted had resulted in scuffed knees on Joyce.

And so Theo decided that this was the last year he'd opt for the casual look since big brother Roger seemed to get a bigger better basket by dressing up for the occasion.

The Crosbys' annual Easter Egg Hunt included the bonus feature of an inflatable rabbit hunt, but Terence's had been situated behind a bramble bush and was now losing some of its air as a result...

Kids were eager to visit Cottontail Castle and were warmly greeted by Peter at the entrance. Unfortunately, for the people of Marysville, there didn't seem to be any EXIT!

Uncle Pete had always been a prankster, but he really went to far this year with his surprise Easter basket. Anytime someone removed the chocolate bunny, they got the shock of their lives beneath it!

Ramona felt bad that her OB/GYN had to work all day on Good Friday, so she arranged a special surprise for him during her final checkup!

Happy Thanksgiving
from Krazy Kaptions!
After the rest of the family gorged on Thanksgiving turkey, they all slipped out into the family room for a much-needed nap, leaving Simon strapped to his high chair with all the leftover taste treats lingering tantalizingly out of reach...
Lenora liked things a certain way and struggled to figure out how her holiday bird could effectively be glitzed up a bit before being presented at dinner.
In order to make her mother happy, Lynda Marie brought Ernie over to her place for Thanksgiving dinner, but for security's sake in that steamy little eat-in kitchen, she kept a purple can of Super-Hold Aqua-Net on the nearby counter...

And so, sadly, as Philomena was bringing her plate for Gert to wash, it occurred to her that she was going to be experiencing the effects of Gert's corned beef and cabbage casserole for sometime thereafter...
File Photo: The exact moment that Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse experienced the very first bump in their heretofore happy relationship. It came about when Mickey lingered a bit too long during a photo op with park visitor Crystal Mist.
Although ticket sales were light for that first performance at Lester's Roadhouse & Pony Keg, it wasn't long before Dirt, Breeze and Flame took off and almost had a hit single on the R&B chart...

For her big finale, Orange Cream Cake with Chocolate Dipped Strawberry Garnish, Wanetta wanted everything to be perfect, but as she was plating up, she found there weren't very many of the strawberries left that she hadn't already taste-tested for quality...
No one in the Livingston family realized when they bought Lynda her first little guitar that it would lead to the fruition of the child band "Harry and the Headhunters," who had little success in their early years, but later charted with two minor punk rock hits.
The Hassenfeld Brothers and their friend Brian had developed a fun activity for parties and picnics, but after this particular day - when Henry got scuffed on some gravel and Herman found ticks in some undesirable places - they developed a mat for it along with a spinner and the immortal game Twister was born!

Betsy had a devil of a time trying to select which of her hand-crocheted shawls went best with her new drip-dry, Dacron pantsuit from the latest Spiegel catalog.
Leroy asked Patrice what she'd done special that night in order to smoke the turkey, but she was afraid to admit that it had happened courtesy of their daughter-in-law Lorraine!
Thelma had requested something in cowhide for her birthday, but her cousin Jeanne misunderstood.

5/7/19

And so, at Darlene's 20th birthday, her Aunt Myrna and Aunt Susan's long-standing competitive spirit was once again brought to the surface when all of Darlene's friends devoured Myrna's Strawberry Jell-O Surprise while Susan's parsley-laden tray of chicken salad remained untouched...
Smiles were pleasant, but forced, as Leroy and Kent met up with their dates Susannah and Carol Beth prior to the dinner dance at which one of the gals was to be crowned Miss Buttercup of Walnut County.
Enjolie's mother said she would make her a prom dress modeled on the one she had worn herself twenty years prior, so she got out the old albums to look over what she was in for...

4/4/19

Grandma Porter found out the hard way how advanced little Sam was for his age when she asked him if he wanted a grilled cheese or some tomato soup and instead he trotted out to the kitchen and announced that he'd like a chuck roast with braised new potatoes!
And with that Miss Kitty sent Laverne and Nellie out of Dodge City and away from The Longbranch on the very next stage, telling them as they boarded that no one wanted "their kind" corrupting her fair town...
And so Uncle Rob was crowned King of the Mardi Gras as his evening of babysitting his three nieces and two nephews came to an exhausting conclusion.

Adeline wanted a picture of herself in the Crocus Choral Society outfit her mother Clara Mae sewed for her, but Clara Mae couldn't resist popping in to receive credit for her work!
It annoyed Jennifer to no end that Ed came plodding into the kitchen wanting to know when the party was going to start when she still hadn't finished not only frosting the cake, but also frosting her hair!
Realizing what a scorcher they had on their hands, Erich rigged up a water slide in the backyard for Timmy and Tina. Sadly, there was so little room back there that the end of it faced Mrs. Prunesickel's sizable rose bush, but the children pressed on nonetheless.

Weekends down at the Okefenokee Swamp combined two of Raedeen's favorite hobbies: sunbathing and cookin' up a mess of crawdads!
Hearing the telephone lineman pull his van up into the driveway, Roger readied himself for the inevitable ring of the doorbell...
Even though many in the village were skeptical, Raymond was no less adamant that he qualified for the annual ritual of the virgin sacrifice to the volcano...

Happy Thanksgiving from Krazy Kaptions!

Julianne thought perhaps she'd gotten an awfully large turkey for the holiday, but, after all, Jim liked turkey croquettes, turkey sandwiches and turkey hot brown and it was up to her hired lady Betty to carve the thing anyway...
And so Mrs. Alden brought Timmy, Mike, Rex and Jennifer into the dining room and demanded to know which one of them had left deep bite marks in the torso of the female pilgrim from her Thanksgiving centerpiece...

While the other pilgrims set about clearing the land and building their homes, the Mullins children determined that the very first thing they wanted in The New Land was a volleyball court!
Bonus Pic! May you have less trouble (and more help!) locating the wishbone than our dear Patty did. She started in on it before the company got there, which was one problem...!
