3/26/20

Randolph unquestionably excelled at being a scout and had a sashfull of badges to prove it, but if the truth were known, his mother understood fully why he hadn't received his merit badge for Interior Decorating...
Phyllis ran into a whale of a problem. As she was setting her hair for the big party at her place that night, she realized she had forgotten to mail out the invitations, so she had to scribble them off in a hurry and have them sent around town by special messenger!
Everything went well enough as Eddie and Ricky posed with Huhroubah until their mother brought over only two cones of cotton candy from the snack vendor and they didn't immediately act as if they planned to share it!

For some reason, Barbie was having a hell of a time containing Rascal, the Jack Russell-Fox Terrier mix that her ex-boyfriend Jim had given her as a puppy right before he split...
Timmy and Roger loved it when Uncle Cliff came on vacation with the family because they could always coerce him into playing Jonny Quest with them, with Timmy as Jonny, Roger as Hadji and Cliff as the heroic Race Bannon.
Sister Mary Herman and Sister Joan Melville liked to break with tradition on Saturdays and take one of their parishioner's speedboats out for a zip along the water, getting a closer look at some of God's creatures in the process.

Leoda was a stickler for things symmetrical and in their proper place. She liked her pictures even, her lamps facing east and her men, like Chester, horizontal...
Mrs. Breyer warned Alura over and over again not to pose in her tulle ballet costume so close to the rose bushes and, in fact, thanks to all the snags it suffered, she was relegated to the third row on the night of the big recital.
Chipper didn't trust Mrs. Greene to fetch the correct Ken-L Ration dog food from the local Piggly-Wiggly during her weekly trip so he hopped up on ol' Bullet with her and rode along so he could supervise the shopping!

Fortunately Bud stopped by Uncle Norb's house on the way to pick up his prom date because Norb's innate fashion sense led him to ditch the boxer shorts under his Dacron trousers as they were leaving a visible line across his thighs which would show up in all the pictures!
Harold was incredibly proud of the pheasant he bagged and wanted to keep it on display in the living room indefinitely, but Marjorie but her foot down and declared that the only bird she wanted anywhere near her TV set was the NBC peacock!
Glenn thought he was getting a great portrait of his new burly physique, but he didn't count on Uncle Roger finding at least two more interesting things going on to the right of the frame, which wound up in the snapshot, while he was nearly cut out!

Annabelle just couldn't help it. While there was a drop or two of guilt in knowing that her coworker Shirleen was compiling a bridal registry while Annabelle was secretly seeing the groom-to-be, she was finally getting her back for all those hallway and locker room pranks when they were in high school together...
After his owner Wilbur complained about the cost of straw and feed, Mr. Ed attempted to help make ends meet by working as an office assistant. Unfortunately, the boss wasn't keen on saliva-covered memos and nose goo on the shared adding machine...
Right from the start of their blossoming relationship, there was tension between Ken and Larry because both of them wanted to drive and neither was keen on sitting in the passenger seat!

Bernard wanted to whisk Martha away from the kitchen for this, their 15th anniversary, so he told her to gussy up and called ahead to Sizzler in order to make sure their favorite table by the window was held for them...
Ordinarily, Harriet wasn't much of a disciplinarian, but today she had Petey in "time-out" because as she was watching Marcus Welby, M.D. on TV, he'd tried to devour the corsage she was still wearing from Easter two days before...
Janice was so disappointed that Myron had gotten himself tipsy so early at the party and knew she was going to have to put him back together quickly if he was to follow through on his promise to sing a few numbers for everyone...

Private Ross was down to his last pair of dungarees and knew he'd better sew up the hole he'd worn in the crotch of them. Unfortunately for him, in his haste to repair them while they were still on, he managed to attached a little bit of himself to the fabric!!
Visalia was proud to pass along various tidbits of advice to her daughter Ramona and granddaughter Elena, though the one they took to heart the most, with increasing success upon each generation, was how to add volume to one's hair.
The long-awaited reunion between Pie and his old jockey Velvet Brown was touching and nostalgic, though what really brought a tear to Velvet's eye was noticing that his current trailer had the name of a prominent glue manufacturer on its side...!

For this commemorative photo at The Magnons', everyone was encouraged to grab his or her favorite pet and place it upon their lap. It just so happened that Reb's favorite pet was Marlene...!
Cecilia had saved up years and years worth of her bank teller salary in order to enjoy a lavish California vacation. On this day she could barely wait for Chet and Garry to drop anchor on the boat and then drop anchor onto HER!
William, Edward and Langston weren't at all happy to be dressed up and forced to sing and dance back-up for a musical agent, but once Langston got a look at little lead singer Gladys Knight, all was forgiven and The Pips were ready to roll!

One last cast photo of the 1953 East Berlin children's TV show H.R. Punchinstuff, whose four episodes were rerun multiple times a day for 17 years (and are now available on a Region 2 DVD.)
Initially, there were those who scoffed, but in a short period of time Ming Lu Portrait Photography was up and running, providing some of the most appealing and attractive pictures that its clients ever owned. The payment option of a bundle of bamboo shoots was also a plus!
The town of Bent Rock, Alaska had a female population of only four in the 1960s, so when the community theatre put on "South Pacific," a dream came true for Stanley because he was cast as Nellie Forbush, narrowly beating out fellow auditionee Stella Claghorn.

Angus tended to get along okay with Tinkles and ordinarily wouldn't have minded the bunk-bed setup that their owner Miss Allison created for them. However, many times his upstairs bunk-mate was too lazy to get up in the middle of the night and head for the kitty litter, creating an unfortunate scenario for him...
One of Peru's top community theatre groups became the first to adapt "The Fantasticks" into a Spanish language production and it ran continually for six years!
On her very last day before retiring from the Princess Line, Julie McCoy hosted a life preserver splash-down contest which was a lot of fun for the guests, but sort of drench the nearby appetizer buffet.

Anson was so excited to add another pet to the family and decided to call his hamster Richie, but when Rex and Monica looked into the cage, all they saw was LUNCH!
At first, everyone seemed to like Angelica's new boyfriend Buddy pretty well, but their opinion shifted somewhat when they witnessed him screaming at her across a parking lot to "Get your can over here, right now!"
Frenetta Sugartiche usually liked to spend time indoors, but could occasionally be coaxed out onto the patio for a spirited game of ping pong before bedtime.

Arnold had grown so tired of taking Mary Louise golfing and having her miss the ball on 3 out of every 4 swings of the club, so he invested in a golf ball she couldn't possibly swoosh by without a hit!
The early days of South Padre Island, Texas were awfully rough and tumble, with an unspeakable level of crime, until the city fathers brought in Pecos Annabelle to clean up the place, which she promptly did!
No matter how much signage Mr. Tackelmeyer put out on his lawn, people were still hesitant to believe that Hannibal posed any sort of danger. Melba found out the hard way after this shot when she was discovered on the other side of the house with a torn blouse, broken glasses and a (still) missing sandal!

3/22/16

Elise got a little tired of waiting for Aunt Francine's Easter ham to finish cooking and thought she'd tide herself over with a grape or two from the wall decor. Chewy and tough as they were, they still were easier to digest than the ham that finally made its way to the table!
Willy thought he'd made it staggeringly clear to his parents and siblings that he needed to use the toity and could not take time out for a family snapshot, but they proceeded on regardless. Let's just say that the walls weren't the only thing yellow in that room after the photo was taken...
Antoinette had originally planned to wear her new hard contact lenses during the outing to the Roama's family farm, but they were irritating her eyes, so she did without. This didn't prevent her from enjoying all the animals on site, including this friendly "cat."

While studying the art during the Whispering Meadows Retirement Village outing to The Heineman Sculpture Garden, Bert came to the realization that he really should invite Ms. Fanny Hipplewhite to an early bird dinner again and again until she finally agreed to come.
Marguerite happened to pick a dreadful time to pose for a photo at the DeLuge Mall directory kiosk, for Ramon was already en route with his hose to give the surrounding flowers a healthy afternoon drink and he hadn't wore his glasses that day!
Snowball and Squealer were pleased as punch the day after their takover of the Pilkington ranch and immediately moved inside the house. Thus, Muriel was relocated to the sty for a time to see how she liked it...

Nita loved having a big family dinner over at Charlie's parents' house and her favorite was the baked potatoes with sour cream. Ivan, however, always went for the pork chops!
And so 1971 marked the final year that Zinger's Archery Range had wooden bathroom facilities. From this incident on, they would permanently switch to the aqua-hued, fiberglass port-o-lets, which were more easily identifiable!
Time and again, Uncle Andrew had complained about the kids leaving their Mr. Potato Head in inconvenient places and this time he didn't intend to give him back to them!
Even though Roy had gotten the banjo he wanted from Santa okay, Robbie remained skeptical and took quite a while to accent his present from the unusual man.

That fateful first meeting between Georgia and Hyman Sidebottom and Lexie Wigglesworth (who, four months after this photo, became the next Mrs. Sidebottom.)
Poor Josh couldn't catch a break. Even the subjects in semi-nude portraits seemed a bit hesitant and skittish whenever he entered a room!

While so many of his buddies were burdened with tearful goodbyes from various ladyfriends they'd made in Gestadt, Myron merely had to say farewell to Sylvester and place him in the care of Mrs. Ollsen until he returned.
After having his bed short-sheeted and his shoelaces tied in knots by Private Harmon, Buddy looked forward to introducing his new friend to Harmon's sleeping bag during this field maneuver!
At last Sgt. Bowling had the opportunity to repay the "favor" to Sgt. Hacker for the horrendous haircut he'd given him a few days before...!
Knowing he was considered one of the weaker members of his troop, Clarence decided to toughen himself up by going through a few rounds of hand-to-hand combat with Aunt Charlotte during one of his brief leaves home.
No longer jealous of the soldiers who got to be entertained by Bob Hope, Biff and the gang were thrilled to be paid a visit by Mr. Ed, the talking horse! (It was later determined, however, that "Ed" was from a nearby farm and only spoke when their bottles were half-empty!)
Until the obstacle course at Fort Tumble could be repaired after a recent tornado, the soldiers were compelled to use the playground at nearby St. Sebastian Elementary in order to stay in top condition.
In an inducement to prowess when it came to swimming, Captain Harrison pitted four soldiers against one another with only three prostitutes awaiting them on shore!
