Easter Shenanigans! 4/15/22

Have a wonderful holiday weekend!

The Boylins watched with a combination of trepidation and anticipation as Aunt Anne proceeded to decapitate the chocolate bunny nestled in their annual Easter cake...

This was the last year that their parents allowed Vern and Joyce to pick their own bunnies from the table since the scuffle to get the ones they wanted had resulted in scuffed knees on Joyce.

And so Theo decided that this was the last year he'd opt for the casual look since big brother Roger seemed to get a bigger better basket by dressing up for the occasion.

The Crosbys' annual Easter Egg Hunt included the bonus feature of an inflatable rabbit hunt, but Terence's had been situated behind a bramble bush and was now losing some of its air as a result...

Kids were eager to visit Cottontail Castle and were warmly greeted by Peter at the entrance. Unfortunately, for the people of Marysville, there didn't seem to be any EXIT!

Uncle Pete had always been a prankster, but he really went to far this year with his surprise Easter basket. Anytime someone removed the chocolate bunny, they got the shock of their lives beneath it!

Ramona felt bad that her OB/GYN had to work all day on Good Friday, so she arranged a special surprise for him during her final checkup!

Jarrod really wasn't sure how it would actually go when he switched from a dog grooming salon to a personal bathing service, but to his delight business actually doubled within two weeks!

Barney was not at all fond of his own surroundings when it came time to find a place to "go," so he used a service called LegLyft, which picked him up and took him to a lovely clean fire hydrant several blocks away!

And so Myrna and Al found out the hard way that it wasn't advisable to drop in a half hour early on their daughter-in-law Gloria on nights when she had invited them to dinner...!

At last, after countless trips to Sears-Roebuck and Hader Hardware, Evelyn had her living room vignette just as she'd dreamed. But then those darn neighbor boys The Garveys just had to extend their baseball game into her front yard!

Vietta wanted to show off some of her new furnishings to the rest of the family, but thought it best to leave the plastic on her lampshade until the grandchildren were well gone!

Wayne was quite adrift when it came to decorating his new home, but fortunately his coworker Selena had a lot of fresh ideas and helped to make it quite a show-stopper...

Since he was four years old, Manuel had been asking Santa for a new pony for Christmas and, not one to give up easily, kept at it for decades...

Everything at Mel and Danica's wedding went off without a hitch until it was discovered that the wreath on the bottom-front tier of their wedding cake had bits of poison ivy accidentally woven through it!

Tired to death of walking from his nest to the river every morning, once he had a little coin in his pocket, Donald Duck took to hiring a driver to get him back and forth five days a week. He still waddled there himself on the weekends...

Captain O'Hallorhan loved the cake his firemen presented when he received a big promotion within the department, but what really gave him a start was the calendar they posed for and had put together for him!

Cherise loved all the shower gifts she'd received upon her engagement until she got to the one her unmarried older cousin Joyce gave her, which was deliberately two sizes too small in order to draw attention to the bride-to-be's curves...

Valdeen had a nightclub act for years, but grew tired of the late hours, so when she turned 55, she had her love bug painted up with a custom design and began strutting her stuff in the daytime at various country clubs and retirement villages!

Farnum loved bath time and usually had a ball, but he could see the writing on the wall when Aunt Cecilia forgot her glasses and began heading to the sink with a large stack of greasy dinner dishes...!

King Neptune felt there was still pretty much life in this wife yet, but he considered making his next one a hairdresser who could do a better job of touching up his roots...

The roof really didn't need any maintenance, but that's what Angus told the wife and kids so that he could have a little down time in between all their needs and complaints!

It turned out to be a joyous occasion when The Marcums could schedule a family reunion, though it also meant that the Sugartit, Kentucky Circle K was closed down for six hours with no one left to work there that day.

And then suddenly Brenda noticed the blank space on the wall and realized that the 8x10 of her in her 4th grade dance recital costume was mysteriously missing from the rest of the display...

It was quite a shock when the portrait of Myrna and Gerald Bludgeon suddenly fell from the wall and hit their descendants, though only Vickie was in any way hurt. Margie and Mona had added protection from their hairdos.

Leoda was a stickler for things symmetrical and in their proper place. She liked her pictures even, her lamps facing east and her men, like Chester, horizontal...

Mrs. Breyer warned Alura over and over again not to pose in her tulle ballet costume so close to the rose bushes and, in fact, thanks to all the snags it suffered, she was relegated to the third row on the night of the big recital.

Chipper didn't trust Mrs. Greene to fetch the correct Ken-L Ration dog food from the local Piggly-Wiggly during her weekly trip so he hopped up on ol' Bullet with her and rode along so he could supervise the shopping!

Liza ran into a real issue that Halloween because she was all made up and halfway into her Cleopatra costume when Rich came by informing her that they needed to go as ghoulish zombies instead!

Having replaced Monica's stuffed cat with his own demonic self, Lucien awaited her usual bedtime ritual so that he could then rest on her face and suffocate her overnight!

After a long evening at the Shaker Island Festival and Fish Fry, Patrice was ready to curl up with three of the treats she'd brought back home, her two stuffed bears and Leroy (not pictured.)

It wasn't that she meant to be rude, but Imelda simply couldn't contain her giggles when she notice that Princess Yvonne had somehow managed to get a bacon-wrapped scallop caught in the back of her stiff coiffure!

There was no time to question their decision to wear such slick material as no-iron perma-poly as they slipped over the precipice, but if they had to go at least Helena and Irv went together...

When he saw how thrilled Ladonna was over the silver-plated goblets he got her for their anniversary, Rhett was doubly glad he'd thought to put a bottle of Manischewitz in the fridge before she got home from LuAnn's Cut 'n Curl.

Ida Mae brought her three puppies home from Just Petting and couldn't decide if Ruffio was merely a runt or if she needed to take him back for a refund...

And so thus began the fourth annual board meeting of the Greater Nyack Spirit Committee and Welcome Wagon, in which Agnes, Rowena, Jessie, Beryl and Margaret Ann set forth the guidelines for incorporating new homeowners into the community...

Filbert Wainscoat felt that his mother had fastened his uniform belt too tightly, but after the fiasco during the prior week's marching band competition, she wasn't about to take any chances.

Bernadette chose this particular Saturday to reveal her new European two-piece to the world. Husband Roger was all in, but daughter Stephanie remained skeptical...

It may have been because Carole was keeping pace on the Coors with hubby Gerald and his brother Walt, but suddenly she felt a sense of indefinable spirituality with regards to her mate and from this point forward she put her total faith in him and obeyed his every desire...

Since his wife Myrna had been bellyaching for weeks that Cliff never did anything surprising or spontaneous with her, he bought some mail-order undies from Total U and decided to spring them on her after their next Friday night evening of romance.

Emily remained surprisingly happy in spite of the fact that just before it was time for pictures with her sisters Janie and Cora Sue, their bull terrier grabbed her homemade Valentine holder, chewed it up, hurled it to the ground and then peed on it!

Jennifer really cleaned up on Valentine's Day. Now it was time to figure out how in the world she was going to fulfill all the little romantic promises she'd made to the men in her office over the course of only one short weekend!

Although he enjoyed Christmas and The 4th of July, it was really Valentine's Day that most warmed the heart of Tyrell...

Long before it was considered trendy to do so, Gloria decided to "go green" by recycling a pair of her denim jeans that had seen better days into a sexy new two-piece swimsuit!

Irv loved to take out his wife Francine and her sisters Becky and Alicia to see various nightclub acts, but Alicia had grown tired of trying to get a good view of the stage when she was invariably seated behind Francine at the table...

His high pressure job kept Richard more than busy, but he insisted that Janet and Timmy gather with him on the sofa once a week in order to spend family time watching Kung Fu.

No matter how many times she'd endured it, Ventura could never understand was took Dale so long to get ready... She was dressed and prepared to leave while he dilly-dallied in the bathroom and she was petrified that Claghorn's was going to run out of stone crab before they got there.

Betty Jean never could stand her old pool man Nestor so, once her husband, who'd initially hired him was deceased, she took matters into her own hands and began using Phillip instead.

Shantal adored the new art piece she'd gotten as a present from her latest beau Antonio, but it didn't really go with anything in her bedroom except her satin pajamas, so she began to think about repainting...
