Happy New Year

As the specter of New Year's Eve closed in, Romilda worried that she had enough booze on hand for her gaggle of seven Bunco partners and herself...

In those weary days before "Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve," when channel 7 went off the air at 11:30pm, folks like Herforth and Edith struggled to keep everyone entertained until the clock struck twelve!

For the Roaring '20s shindig at Kimmy Hemmelman's house, the girls had been issued feathers for their hair and the boys were given paper fedoras, but Richie had other ideas...

Baby New Year of 1973 was supposed to come careening into New York City's Times Square at the stroke of midnight, but somehow took a wrong turn and bounced into the lap of Lou Fennelman in a New Rochelle subdivision...!

Valerie's New Year's bash was a total riot, but things did get dicey when she realized that someone had used Krylon spray paint on her exposed brick and she had to hold an inquisition around 12:45am!

Stevie and Darla had their fun at midnight, but by the time breakfast was served the next morning around 8:15am, Grandma Parker has long since had her fill of the noisemakers, both human and mechanical!

With all the family out the door and dishes finally washed, dried and put away, Evelyn traded in her heels for a pair of slippers and slunk down in the chair for a post-holiday nap.

Since Ranie had already given up her jeans and coat in order to outfit Sean's snowman, she prayed in earnest that there were no remaining accessories that she'd have to provide with the 27-degree wind chill that was whipping through the trees...!

Rayjean was generally in good spirits of a morning, but there was one thing that never failed to get her from zero-to-sixty in seconds flat on the crazy meter and that was finding out that someone used all the ice in the ice trays the night before without filling them back up with water.

Happy Holidays from Krazy Kaptions! 

Carolee wasn't about to settle for a bracelet from F.W. Woolworth's or some drug store perfume this year, but she did discover that Santa wanted a little something in return for the upgrade...

At last, Grandpa Earl and Teddy found a way to rid themselves of the endless haranguing from Grandma Bessie as Teddy set up his new missile launcher and then waited for her to take her customary seat...

It wasn't intentional, but as she posed before the tree, Lynda's hair and dress kept brushing against the branches, causing several of the ornaments to come crashing down from above onto the unsuspecting residents of her Christmas village beneath!

Monica wasn't psychic, but somehow she just had a strong feeling that she was going to LOVE her new studio apartment at Fashion Park...

And just like that, the angel Cynthiana was plucked from the sky and had her wings rendered from her body...

There was no real scientific correlation, but it seemed that on days when Terrence was doing pool maintenance across the street, the Bar & Grill customers with window seats tended to order more beef and stay in their seats longer than usual...

Only a year and a half prior to The Six Million-Dollar Man and The Bionic Woman, there were The Five Million-Dollar Man and the Bionic Lady, but their batteries went out after only a few weeks as the transformation process still hadn't been perfected at that point.

Even though he was independently wealthy, Randolph was only too happy to put in two days a week as a California lifeguard, so long as he was chauffeured to the beach and disrobed by his personal valet Tad.

Veronica insisted on having Sebastian in her school photos since he had been instrumental in helping her to attain the right amount of success and popularity at Salem High... he and her book of spells, of course.

It was just about this time that Sebastian began to assert himself more fully, preparing for the eventual takeover of Veronica and her household.

At first Clara thought it was a thrill to be dating someone in the automobile industry, but after the third time he had her posing for prospective hood ornaments of upcoming Chevrolet models (without benefit of pay!), she'd pretty much had it...

And so once again it happened. Sherry, despite wearing her new fuchsia silk party dress, had wound up losing yet another wedding date on the dance floor to her exuberant Aunt Phyllis.

After generations of male pattern baldness in the family, Alberta decided to put little Theo on Vitamin E supplements and stay ahead of the curve. The results were astounding!

There were several things that Tammie was hoping to receive on her birthday, but happily she got the one that was top on her list; a full afternoon of pampering at Elizabeth Arden.

And so the Strawberry Grove Dance Studio - Group E was informed as to which of them was going to be selected as Clara in "The Nutcracker Suite," a decision that didn't sit well with Melody Ann...

After a lot of hinting and a few false starts, Veronica finally received the proposal she'd been waiting for from Big Red...

At the Lion's Club fundraiser, "Ali Baba's Arabian Adventure," Garrison decided to try his hand at snake charming while Veronica did her dance of the seventh veils, but he was ultimately embarrassed by just which snake began to emerge from underneath his trumpet!

When word got out that Anitra Ford was considering leaving The Price is Right, Viola decked herself out for all she was worth and made her hubby Stan take some audition photos of her presenting their "brand... new... car!"

Clarice had been repeatedly warned to not feed the chipmunks because in time they could grow dependent on her and turn violent if she ever stopped, but to her delight she found that some of them were beyond affectionate, even if she didn't have any nuts or popcorn on hand!

Cissy and Terrence's first day as catalog models. Their mother June was proud that they maintained their poise, posture and positive expression even though it became clear that Terrence went "doo doo in his di di!"

After attempting to give Chad his lunch, then the use of his convertible and finally tickets to a Mets game - all to no avail - in exchange for the answers to the big Biology final, Harvey finally made him an offer he couldn't refuse...!

During some of those long, lonesome days at sea, the gang sometimes liked to mix things up with an original game they called "Shipwreck Survivor." Thing was, whichever sailor who got to had to play the rescued damsel always ended up with some awkward tan lines!

Happy Thanksgiving

After the rest of the family gorged on Thanksgiving turkey, they all slipped out into the family room for a much-needed nap, leaving Simon strapped to his high chair with all the leftover taste treats lingering tantalizingly out of reach...

Lenora liked things a certain way and struggled to figure out how her holiday bird could effectively be glitzed up a bit before being presented at dinner.

In order to make her mother happy, Lynda Marie brought Ernie over to her place for Thanksgiving dinner, but for security's sake in that steamy little eat-in kitchen, she kept a purple can of Super-Hold Aqua-Net on the nearby counter...

All the effort of putting up her Christmas tree had caused a dent in Sandy's coiffure, but thankfully she recalled collecting a hat from Democratic headquarters earlier in the month and she was able to obscure the problem with that for a quick snapshot...

When they first headed to the vet, Farfel didn't feel like he had any reason to be going, but once Viola drove him there, swerving all over the road and covering two lanes, he suddenly felt the need for a doctor and perhaps even a tranquilizer!

The New Rochelle Ladies Auxiliary Bruncheon featured a new contest this year and the competition was fierce for "Craziest Chapeau."

Gladys Rubenwald was none too pleased to have to pay the winner the $31.50, which was half the pot, when she'd spent so much on real silk flowers for her own topper...

And so, sadly, as Philomena was bringing her plate for Gert to wash, it occurred to her that she was going to be experiencing the effects of Gert's corned beef and cabbage casserole for sometime thereafter...

File Photo: The exact moment that Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse experienced the very first bump in their heretofore happy relationship. It came about when Mickey lingered a bit too long during a photo op with park visitor Crystal Mist.

Although ticket sales were light for that first performance at Lester's Roadhouse & Pony Keg, it wasn't long before Dirt, Breeze and Flame took off and almost had a hit single on the R&B chart...

For her big finale, Orange Cream Cake with Chocolate Dipped Strawberry Garnish, Wanetta wanted everything to be perfect, but as she was plating up, she found there weren't very many of the strawberries left that she hadn't already taste-tested for quality...

No one in the Livingston family realized when they bought Lynda her first little guitar that it would lead to the fruition of the child band "Harry and the Headhunters," who had little success in their early years, but later charted with two minor punk rock hits.

The Hassenfeld Brothers and their friend Brian had developed a fun activity for parties and picnics, but after this particular day - when Henry got scuffed on some gravel and Herman found ticks in some undesirable places - they developed a mat for it along with a spinner and the immortal game Twister was born!

Utterly tired of autograph seekers, Penelope finally opted for sunglasses to augment her already incognito covered-up winter look.

Jerrod was told to wait at the car while Millicent changed into her suit, but the longer she took, and the hotter the fender became in the sun, the more concerned he became that he'd be able to stick it out until her emergence!

Since she'd dropped a few pounds, Vonda no longer worried about making it down her mother's hallway without scraping the sides, but the height of the door to her bedroom still provided a bit of suspense...

Carrie Anne had no clue when she and Burl stopped at Motel 6 on the way to Springfield that there was a hot new nightclub a few doors down. With nothing to wear, she nabbed the brightly-patterned top spread from one of the beds and fashioned herself a cool get-up for the night!

And with that, the 2nd Annual Greater Nyack Billiards Play-Off was ready to roll. This year's grand prize was a 3-night stay on Oahu (airfare not included.)

Nancy and Warren had come in 4th the prior year, but this time were convinced they had the West Orange Rollerama Championship in the bag with their sparkling routine to "Lara's Theme."
