Sam had endured strenuous testing and rigorous physical hurdles in order to become Head Lifeguard at Lake Arrowhead, Missouri, but had no idea until this moment that the first person he'd be saving was a clumsy Mr. Albert Trimble, who toppled from the observation stoop...

Denise couldn't wait to get to the ABBA concert, but fate stepped in when Roger decided to take one last shot at the bull's eye on their dartboard. She wound up having to listen to the group's songs on a portable 8-track at the emergency room.

Doubtlessly, the highlight of Lori Sue's trip to Hawaii was being led up to the stage of Main Ho's Resort as the honorary torch lighter for that evening's Weenie Roast.

It certainly hadn't been pleasant to dig this massive pit in the hot sun, but when Melody followed the trail of Lifesavers and candy corn to it, Berniece and Genevieve knew it was all worth it...

Arch could hardly contain his excitement at receiving a visit from his old army pal Frosty Witherspoon, but he was saddened at the end of that second unseasonably warm and sunny afternoon to see that he'd taken off, with just a hat lying in the yard as a reminder of his stay.

Sal licked his chops for an impending smooch of his own once he saw the welcome to the family his son Buddy was getting from the mother of the bride!

BONUS PIC:  Trevor loved his new flesh-toned bathing suit and enjoyed dabbling in the garden while wearing it... until near-sighted neighbor Mrs. Page reported him to the authorities for public indecency!

Wally had worked up such a thirst dog-paddling around in Jeannine's pool that he couldn't wait for another Budweiser and finally grabbed the champagne that was meant for a later birthday toast and just chugged away!

Ingrid enjoyed tatting as a hobby and, once every chair, chaise, sofa and end table had its very own doily, she got to work on decorating some of her own suits and dresses with the stuff, too!

Hymie was a tad disappointed that after he went to the trouble of decorating his pad for a Halloween party, nobody bothered to show up...!

Visitors to Columbus Park, in Des Moines, Iowa naturally expected to see the celebrated bust of the park's namesake, but were understandably surprised at how welcoming the place was!

Aunt Henrietta and Aunt Fernelle didn't realize until they got this roll of film back just how ready Murph and Suzanne were for the ladies to end their 10-day visit with them and head back to Rayville.

Queensgate was only too happy to be the location of a new lesbian bar, called It's 5:00 Somewhere, and 85% of its staff remained in place from 1954 til it closed in 1976 during a recession.

Sherwin and Melody knew what it was too early for their little siblings to realize. If you were born into The Rudder Family and wanted to be a success socially, you had to grow your hair to cover the hereditary oversized ears that each of them had!

Mavis pulled out all the stops on this latest date with Freddie. If he didn't put an engagement ring on her finger after seeing her new suit and white fur stole, she was moving on to the next beau!

It wasn't just that Patrice's new swimming ensemble drew raves at Wishiwashee Resort's in-ground swimming pool. She also won over quite a few male hearts when she wore this to place putt-putt on the resort's 9-hole course, especially when retrieving her ball.

One reason Evelyn liked to pal around with Helene was that she approached every event with gusto, such as when she placed a large flower in her hair for Paso Doble Night down at The Matador Steak House & Cantina.

Assessing all the other girls in the rainbow-themed bridesmaid party, Veronica could at least take heart in the fact that, even though she didn't love her celery dress, she wasn't stuck with tangerine, melon or lemon yellow...!

Jeannie could hardly wait to get back from her birthday dinner and dig into her cake with green icing and purple flowers. However, her parents had ducked out the back door because the bakery had accidentally made it with yellow and blue and they were afraid of the consequences!

Every aspect of Millicent's wedding reception was fun and delightful but for the fact that her nephew Rodney had gotten hold of a roll of nickels and played "I Wanna Hippopotamus for Christmas" seventeen times in a row on the VFW hall's juke box before anyone could stop him!

This was Rolph's favorite spot to lounge away the evening, but history had taught him to avoid the area during two occasions: Myrtle had trouble with her bladder during first-run episodes of "The Beverly Hillbillies" and also experienced adverse reactions to Taco Night (the 2nd & 4th Tuesdays of every month) down at K.O.'s Bar & Grill...

Perhaps it was because they knew they were ultimately going to have to clean up all the mess, but Lee and Peggy seemed startlingly unenthusiastic about the kids' attempt to prepare them a home-cooked anniversary breakfast buffet.

It had been such a long while between haircuts that Charlie felt he needed to do a little something extra special with his before heading out to Pinochle Night down at the Vidal Valley Elks Lodge.

Marie was so disappointed that Wayne (who was colorblind) chose his own outfit the evening this portrait was snapped, especially after she'd already laid out his navy blue leisure suit with red polyester shirt and white tie, which he didn't notice...

Arnold had grown so tired of taking Mary Louise golfing and having her miss the ball on 3 out of every 4 swings of the club, so he invested in a golf ball she couldn't possibly swoosh by without a hit!

The early days of South Padre Island, Texas were awfully rough and tumble, with an unspeakable level of crime, until the city fathers brought in Pecos Annabelle to clean up the place, which she promptly did!

No matter how much signage Mr. Tackelmeyer put out on his lawn, people were still hesitant to believe that Hannibal posed any sort of danger. Melba found out the hard way after this shot when she was discovered on the other side of the house with a torn blouse, broken glasses and a (still) missing sandal!
